Grand-Silicagen Launches Taiwan–Japan Joint Venture to Accelerate PFAS-Free Silica Materials for Global Industries

TAIPEI, Taiwan — March 5, 2026 —
Grand-Silicagen Technology Co., Ltd., a Taiwan- Japan joint-venture materials technology company, today announced its official launch and commencement of operations, marking a major milestone in the global commercialization of PFAS-free, environmentally responsible silica-based materials.
As technological advancement continues to enhance modern life, it has also placed increasing long-term pressure on the environment. Grand-Silicagen was established on the belief that next-generation materials must simultaneously deliver environmental compatibility, human safety, and scalable commercial viability. PFAS-free silica innovation has emerged at this critical moment as a practical and sustainable solution for a wide range of industries.
Grand-Silicagen integrates three core strengths across Japan and Taiwan: the PFAS-free silica materials research and development expertise of Choetsu Technology® (Japan), the mature and market-proven technology platform of Silicagen Japan, and the extensive global trading and industrial network of Grand-Bonanza Enterprise Co., Ltd. (Taiwan). Through this integration, the company has established a cross-border materials commercialization platform designed to significantly shorten the path from advanced material innovation to real-world industrial adoption.
The company’s core technology originates from Choetsu Technology®, a Japanese-developed silica coating innovation first introduced in 1997 and refined through more than two decades of scientific research, engineering optimization, and commercial validation. The technology enables the formation of an ultra-thin, glass-like silica layer on material surfaces under near-ambient temperature and pressure conditions, without the use of strong acids, harsh chemicals, or extreme processing environments. This approach ensures material compatibility, process stability, and long-term durability.
Designed with safety, neutrality, and environmental compatibility as foundational principles, the PFAS-free silica coating is chemically neutral, free from substances harmful to biological systems, and suitable for applications involving direct human contact. At the end of its lifecycle, the material can gradually degrade in the natural environment without creating persistent ecological burdens, aligning closely with evolving global regulations and ESG frameworks.
Grand-Silicagen’s silica-based solutions have demonstrated applicability across a wide range of industries, including wood, paper, textiles, medical and hygiene products, as well as anti-fouling and antimicrobial applications. The coatings provide water, oil, stain, and durability protection while preserving the original appearance, texture, and performance of the underlying materials, supporting scalable de-plasticization strategies without compromising functionality.
With its official opening on March 5, 2026, Grand-Silicagen positions itself as a bridge between advanced material science and measurable real-world sustainability impact, accelerating the global transition toward safer and more sustainable materials.
